STATEMENT BY THE MINISTRY OF THE FOREIGN AFFAIRS

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia firmly serves the national interests of Georgia and fully adheres to its Constitution. The Ministry condemns the pressure exerted on Georgia’s diplomatic service and the calls for sabotage. Attempts by foreign states to interfere in the functioning of the institutions of a sovereign state are unacceptable.

Today, on 27 September 2024, the National Flag of Georgia flies at half-mast at the Embassy of Georgia in Ireland, to mark the 31st anniversary of the tragic fall of Georgian city Sokhumi in Abkhazia region of Georgia to the hands of illegal military groups supported by the Russian regular army.

On 12 July 2024, Young Ambassadors Ambassadorial 2024 took place in Tbilisi. The event featured addresses from Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Vladimer Konstantinidi, Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia Ruslan Abashidze, and Ketevan Gorgoshidze, project manager of the International Center for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD).

•    Today, we celebrate the 10th anniversary of the signing of the Association Agreement between Georgia and the European Union. •    On 27 June 2014, with the signing of the Association Agreement, Georgia-EU relations advanced to a qualitatively new stage. The Association Agreement serves as the main legal framework for Georgia-EU cooperation.
