On September 1, 2026 H.E. Sophie Katsarava met with newly elected Lord Mayor of Dublin Daryl Barron.

On August 28, 2026 at the annual Kennedy Summer School conference in County Wexford, Ambassador Sophie Katsarava delivered a speech on the growing connections and shared opportunities bringing Georgia and Ireland closer together.

On the occasion of the 18th anniversary of the 2008 Russia-Georgia war, the national flags are flown at half-mast at the premises of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as at Georgia’s diplomatic representations and consular offices abroad, to honour the memory of those who lost their lives

Eighteen years have passed since the full-scale military aggression launched by the Russian Federation against Georgia. In August 2008, disregarding the fundamental norms and principles of international law, Russia carried out the illegal occupation of Abkhazia and the Tskhinvali region - inalienable parts of Georgia’s territory - and recognised their so-called independence.

On 21 July, Ambassador Sophie Katsarava met with the Minister of State for Public Procurement, Digitalisation and eGovernment Frank Feighan.

On 29 May, Ambassador Sophie Katsarava met with the member of the European Parliament for Ireland South Cynthia Ní Mhurchú.
