The Embassy of Georgia in Dublin marked Georgia’s Independence Day with a festive reception
On May 26, 2026, the Embassy of Georgia in Ireland hosted an official reception in Dublin to celebrate Georgia's Independence Day.
The audience was addressed by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to Ireland, H.E. Sophio Katsarava, and the Convener of the Georgia-Ireland Interparliamentary Friendship Group, Senator Diarmuid Wilson.
In her ceremonial address, H.E. Sophio Katsarava emphasized the historical significance of Georgia’s Independence Day. The Ambassador highlighted three decades of friendly relations and strong partnership with Ireland, noting that the bond is firmly rooted in shared values and mutual respect. Looking ahead, Ambassador Katsarava wished Ireland success in its upcoming EU presidency, reaffirming a readiness for active cooperation.
The national anthems of Georgia and Ireland were performed by Georgian soprano Salome Jikia and Junior Eurovision Éire 2025 winner Lottie O'Driscoll Murray. Later, Georgian jazz virtuoso Maia Baratashvili elevated the evening with outstanding compositions of Georgian and world music.
The event saw a distinguished gathering, including members of the diplomatic corps, representatives of the executive and legislative branches of the Irish government, academics, media representatives, and members of the Georgian diaspora. Throughout the evening, guests had the opportunity to sample authentic Georgian wine and cuisine.
